Alaska: Anchorage, Whittier, & Seward

Recently I have been lucky enough to take a vacation with my family to Alaska. Within the first two days we went to the cities of Anchorage, Whittier, and Seward. Despite the fact that each town was located on the water, each was vastly different.     Day 1: Anchorage The first day of our vacation was mostly spent on two planes- one layover and then the very long flight to Anchorage. Even though the long plane ride was not the most entertaining, I love to fly. It is amazing…

The Sound of Suicide

Hey Guys, Since starting the blog, Donovan and I have made many new and creatives friends. Tonight we are featuring a poem written by Jessi Logan.   The Sound of Suicide. By: Jessi Logan   If suicide had a voice, how would it sound? If suicide were a sentence, what would it be? If suicide had a face, how would it look? If suicide were a person, what reputation would it hold? Is it a loud person or one that is rather quiet? Is it harmful or helpful? Does it…

Changing Lives: 2 Easy Fundraisers

Hey guys!! Continuing with the our theme of women’s illiteracy, I want to share 2 easy fundraiser ideas that are perfect to help raise money for this cause. Organizations like SHARE in Africa are able to continue helping girls in Africa mainly due to monetary donations made by people like us. The 2 fundraisers I will be talking about are not particularly “new ideas,” but they are perfect for school or church organizations, and individuals plus they are super kid friendly. 2 Easy Fundraisers Yard/Garage Sales: I think every suburban…

Posting Schedule Update

In the past 24 hours, views of this blog have skyrocketed, and I am truly amazed. Leanne and I have been spending the past few days doing research on the best ways to build up a successful blog, and we got results much faster than we ever could have hoped. We would like to start this post by thanking each and every reader that we have received so far, and we would also like to offer a special thanks to those who have decided to share our website and social…

Changing Lives: SHARE in Africa

Continuing our discussion on women’s illiteracy, I would like to talk about SHARE in Africa. I mentioned before that part of our discussion will be about organizations that are helping to eliminate women’s illiteracy today. How it Began This organization was started by one girl with a vision. “It all began in May 2008, when fifteen year-old Shannon McNamara was planning a service trip to Africa. She learned about the gender bias that prevents many girls there from getting a quality education, and she was determined to help.” Shannon helped girls…

Raspberry and Blueberry Pancakes

Pancake are the go to special breakfast in my family, on of the reason I made them on Father’s Day. I know that it’s not very fancy, but we love them, and so I make them. I love raspberry and blueberry pancakes for the 4th of July! (Red, White, and Blue: Get it??) Anyway, with a couple of steps this recipe is one the easiest. Raspberry and Blueberry Pancakes Ingredients: 2 cups Bisquick mix                                …

June Wrap-up and July Goals

Hey Guys!! June has been super fun for us over here at Stuck With Me Now! June was our very first month with the blog- that puts us at 18 days. Since launching the blog on June 12th we have had over 1,700 page views!! This is something we are really proud of and could not have achieved without the support…

Foodies: Tater Tot Shepherds Pie

I’ve made this dinner a couple of times since first trying it at a family reunion. I absolutely love this recipe because it’s a quick and easy rendition of your classic shepherds pie. Really, eliminating the mashed potatoes by adding tater tots can shave a good 30 minutes of the recipe time. So here it is: Tater Tot Shepherds Pie Serving Size: 6 servings                                                    …

Changing Lives: Women’s Illiteracy

Hey guys, I know social issues are usually Donovan’s domain and Thursday is my Changing Lives day, but let me assure you that this post on women’s illiteracy is in the right place. Over the next few weeks I am going to be posting about service projects, charities, and fundraisers that all support ending illiteracy for women. Before I start sharing those, I thought that I would open your eyes to this problem we will soon start solving. Most of us in the U.S., especially those who are reading this…
